Find Olmsted County Inmates

Olmsted County inmate search starts with the Adult Detention Center jail roster maintained by the Sheriff's Office. The public roster is a custody tool, not a full court case file, and it is used to check whether a person is currently detained, booked on new charges, held on a warrant, serving a sentence, or held for another agency. An Olmsted County jail roster search should be paired with court records, DOC tools, or federal custody sources when the person is no longer in county custody or when the charge needs case-level detail.

Olmsted County Jail Roster

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office operates the Adult Detention Center, known locally as the ADC. Sheriff Kevin Torgerson is listed as the 27th Olmsted County Sheriff. The ADC is at 101 4th Street SE in Rochester, and the jail phone is 507-328-6790. The Sheriff's Office also lists non-emergency dispatch at 507-328-6800, main law-enforcement phone at 507-328-6750, warrants phone at 507-328-6830, and ADC fax at 507-328-6833.

The county describes the ADC as a direct-supervision facility with a rated capacity of 202 beds for males and females. It houses pre-sentenced detainees, sentenced detainees, boarders, work release detainees, and people held for federal, state, or county agencies when space is available. The maximum-security facility opened in 1993 with 100 beds and later expanded to 202 beds. The Work Release Facility opened in 2003 and serves work-release, sentenced-to-service, and minimum-security detainees.

The county source for jail facility details is assigned in the image manifest. The Adult Detention Center information page explains the facility, direct supervision, programs, and custody role.

That facility page is the base source for understanding what the county jail roster can and cannot show.

Use the Olmsted Inmate Roster

The public custody list is linked from the county's "Who is in Custody?" page and opens the ADC in-custody list. It is a current detainee tool. If the person has been transferred to state prison, released, or held federally, the county roster may no longer show them.

  1. Open the county Who is in Custody page.
  2. Launch the ADC in-custody list.
  3. Search by first or last name, or browse by first letter of the last name.
  4. Open or review the matching roster entry for booking date, status, charge text, and offense level.
  5. Use MCRO, DOC, or BOP searches when the roster does not match the custody question.

The county "Who is in Custody?" page is the official entry point for the roster. That county custody page is one of the assigned image sources.

The entry page helps users reach the official county list before relying on any outside custody lookup.

The roster application itself is also assigned in the manifest. The ADC in-custody list is the direct public roster interface.

The roster result should be read as a custody snapshot, not as the final court record for the case.

Olmsted Inmate Search Fields

The ADC roster search is name-based and browser-friendly. It does not require a booking number. A partial name can help narrow the list, but similar names should be checked against the visible roster details before drawing conclusions.

Olmsted Inmate Profile Fields

A roster entry may show enough detail to identify the detainee and understand the custody reason. The public warning matters. The roster says information should not be relied on for legal action and that the Sheriff's Office cannot represent that it is current, accurate, or complete. For charges and case outcomes, check District Court records.

Olmsted County Jail Facilities

The county jail campus is part of the downtown Rochester Government Center and Law Enforcement Center area. The ADC is the main custody facility. The Work Release Facility is a separate local facility used for work-release and minimum-security functions, and it is also the onsite video visitation location listed by the county.

DOC and Federal Inmate Searches

Use the Minnesota DOC Public Viewer when the person has been committed to the Commissioner of Corrections or remains under DOC jurisdiction. DOC search fields include first name, last name, or six-digit MNDOC Offender ID, and newly sentenced people may take several business days to appear. The DOC public registrant search is a separate public-notification tool by city, county, name, or zip.

Federal custody is separate. Use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator for federal prisoners, including those at FMC Rochester when applicable. The county roster does not replace state prison, public registrant, victim-notification, VINELink, BOP, or District Court systems.

Olmsted County Jail Visitation

Olmsted County uses video visitation for all social visits. The county states that all video visits are recorded and may be monitored. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Detainees may have one 20-minute free onsite visit per day. Visitors may visit one detainee per day onsite and may have unlimited offsite visits. Only one registered visitor may participate, with one supervised child allowed.

Mail Phone and Digital Contact

All incoming mail is searched. Handwritten letters in pen or pencil, typed letters, and appropriate photos are allowed. Prohibited items include blank paper, books, magazines, newspapers, envelopes, cut or photocopied articles, stickers, packages, checks, stamps, obscene or gang-related material, and mail with odor or fluids. Personal mail from family and friends is digitally delivered.

Mail must be addressed to Olmsted County Jail, followed by the inmate name and inmate number, P.O. Box 16120, Jonesboro, AR 72401. Detainees cannot receive direct calls. They must call out through ICSolutions prepaid telephone service. The setup and support number is 888-506-8407. Email, messages, and photos use JailATM.com, and help is available at 870-627-5476.

The contact rules are documented by the county. The jail contact page is the manifest source for mail, phone, and digital delivery rules.

These rules affect how families communicate with a detainee, but they do not change the court charge record.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

Olmsted County uses Inmate Canteen for video time, phone time, envelopes, stamps, paper, and vending-machine food. Online deposits use a free account at team3.inmatecanteen.com. The maximum is $500 per credit card, per detainee, per 30 days, and purchased credits are immediately available. Deposits may be applied to a negative balance first, and the county will not discuss detainee account details with family or friends.

In-person kiosks are located at the Adult Detention Center and the Work Release Facility. The kiosks accept cash, credit card, and debit card. After hours, users should use the intercom and state that the purpose is adding funds to a detainee account.

The manifest includes the Inmate Canteen deposit source. The Inmate Canteen site is the online deposit route named by the county.

Money deposits support communication and commissary purchases, not release unless they are tied to a permitted bail or bond process.

Olmsted County Bail and Release

Bail depends on the court order, charge, warrant status, and custody situation. During business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. excluding holidays, bail is handled through Court Administration at the Government Center. After hours, bail is posted at the ADC lobby door in the circle drive. After-hours posting requires exact cash, money order, or bond. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted after hours.

When an active warrant is involved, the county says turning oneself in resolves the warrant immediately and may provide an opportunity to post bail or bond if permitted. For case-level bail details, use MCRO or contact Court Administration. For current custody status, use the ADC roster or call the jail.

Olmsted Inmate Record Requests

The public roster is only one access channel. Sheriff or county records beyond the public roster should route through the Olmsted County Data Practice Request process under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. Court records about charges, hearings, disposition, or sentencing should be checked through MCRO or Court Administration, not through the jail roster alone.

Note: Web contact messages to the Sheriff's Office are not monitored 24/7, so urgent safety issues require dispatch or 911.
